Wavel Ramkalawan elected new President of the Republic of Seychelles
02.11.202027.10.2020 - During the past weekend, Seychelles elected a new President who, for the first time since 1977, was an opposition candidate - the former Anglican priest Wavel Ramkalawan. The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday 26th October at the official seat of the Seychelles government, where the newly elected Vice-President Ahmed Afif was inaugurated together with the new President.
COVID-19! Citizens of the Czech Republic are prohibited from entering the Seychelles

Death of France Albert René, former President of the Republic of Seychelles
27.02.201927.02.2019 - The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Seychelles in Prague announces with deepest sympathy the death of the former President of the Republic of Seychelles, Mr France Albert René on Wednesday, 27th February 2019, at the age of 83. Mr René carried out this function from 1977 to 2004, thus being the longest-serving Seychelles President. A State Funeral will be held on Thursday, 7th March 2019, which has been declared a Day of State Mourning. The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Seychelles in Prague expresses sincere condolences to the family. Private commiserations will be accepted at info@consulateseychelles.cz.
Jana Stefankova is the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles
27.07.201627.07.2016 - On 5th July 2016, Jana Stefankova was officially appointed by the President of Seychelles, James Alix Michel, to the post of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in the Czech Republic. After being an executive employee of the Consulate since 1995, this position follows her more than 20 years of activities in the Indian Ocean region, particularly on the Seychelles islands, and also on the activities of Ernst Pindur, who held the post of Honorary Consul from 1994 to 2014.
